E-Mail this report to a friend

An accused in the Australian missionary Graham Stewart Stains murder case was today arrested from a village hideout near Balasore in Orissa.

Madhu Mahant -- considered a close associate of prime accused in the case, Dara Singh -- was hiding in Talapati village of Mayurbhanj district, the police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the special task force led by sub-inspector Manoj Mahanty raided the house of a teacher in the village and nabbed Mahant.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, probing the case, had announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 each to anyone who provided clues leading to the arrest of 13 persons, including Madhu Mahant, for their alleged involvement in the murders.
