Arsha Gurukulam Offers Indian Pilgrimages

Swami Tadatmananda, a monk at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Saylorsburg, will lead a tour of Rishikesh and the Himalayas, from October 8 to 24.

The program includes attending lectures by Swami Dayananda and stay at the Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh, day trips to Hardwar, Lakshman Jhula, Vasistha Guha and several other sacred places, and pilgrimage to Badrinath and Kedarnath.

If you cannot make it to the Himalayas, Swami Tadatmananda says he will be conducting a camp, July 25 to 31, for children ages 8 to 12. Apart from poojas, chanting and religious dramas, the participants will also join recreational activities such as camp fires and field trips.

The Gurukulam is looking for adult volunteers to help run the camp.

July is a big month for retreats at the Gurukulam. Swami Dayananda will leading two family retreats, from July 10 to 17 and from July 18 to 24.

During the first retreat, he will explore chapter 6 of the Bhagavad Gita about meditation and its effects. Swami Viditatmananda Sarasota will discuss aspects of karma yoga in Chapter 12 of the Gita.

During the second family retreat, Swami Dayananda will explore Brhadaranyaka Upanisad 2, 4 and 5. Swami Viditatmananda will discuss chapter 4 of the Gita and the nature of incarnation and self-purification.

Swami Viditatmananda is familiar with the lifestyles and monastic traditions in India and America, having lived and worked in America before becoming a renunciate. He has travelled widely across India studying the Vedantic tradition.

Swami Tadatmananda, also raised in America, conducts Vedanta classes, seminars and meditation workshops at the Gurukulum for adults and children.
