E-Mail this report to a friend

Five people were killed in artillery and mortar firing by Pakistani troops in the Batalik sub-sector while the Kargil Doordarshan station came under the attack of heavy shelling from across the border yesterday.

Official sources said the civilians including two teenagers were killed in three different places of the sub-sector.

The sources said the Pakistani troops made an unsuccessful attempt at disrupting the operations of the local Doordarshan station at Kargil. A building adjacent to the main transmission building was heavily damaged in the shelling. An oil tanker was also gutted in the firing from across the border.
