Medical team confirms Anjana Mishra was raped

E-Mail this report to a friend

A medical examination conducted on Anjana Mishra has confirmed that she was a victim of rape.

A team of doctors at the SCB Medical College, Cuttack, who examined her, confirmed last evening that she was gang-raped and that she had suffered injuries too.

Mishra was raped on January 9 near Baranga while she was on her way to Cuttack, allegedly to consult her lawyer.

Meanwhile, the Orissa high court yesterday adjourned to February 2 the hearing on her petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the gang-rape.

While adjourning the case, a division bench of the court comprising Justice Ajit Pasayat and Justice P C Naik asked the government to file a counter affidavit before January 9 on Mishra's allegation that Prema Ranjan Parida, the former inspector of Nayapalli police station, was transferred to Puri and then to the computer section of the forensic laboratory, Bhubaneswar, with an ulterior motive.

The court also directed the government to reply whether the computer section formed a part or unit of the forensic laboratory.

The court directive came after Mishra alleged that Parida transferred to the forensic laboratory to destroy evidence in her case.
