Cold kills two more in Rajasthan

With two more deaths reported from Karauli and Alwar towns, the cold wave toll in Rajasthan this winter has gone up to seven.

Chittorgarh town remained the coldest place in the state.

Cold wave conditions also prevailed in east Uttar Pradesh and in parts of Orissa and Bihar plateau.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in parts of Punjab, east Rajasthan, Gujarat region, north central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha, and were below normal in Assam and Meghalaya, southwest Rajasthan and in parts of Telangana, interior Tamil Nadu and in the remaining parts of north central Maharashtra.

They were above normal in parts of northwest Rajasthan and were normal in the rest of the country outside Arunchal Pradesh from where the data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, and at isolated places in hills of west Uttar Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Haryana, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
