Cold wave worsens in Rajasthan

Cold conditions continued unabated in parts of Rajasthan.

The weather office said icy northernly winds worsened the situation in the state in the past 24 hours, with night temperatures further dipping by two to three degree Celsius at places.

Cold wave conditions also prevailed in parts of Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kutch, Gujarat, north central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Telangana.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in Orissa and in parts of south central Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and in the remaining parts of Gujarat and of Telangana, and were below normal in Gangetic West Bengal.

They were appreciably above normal in Jammu, northwest Rajasthan and in parts of Himachal Pradesh, in the remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, and were above normal in parts of Haryana.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunchal Pradesh from where the data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam and Meghalaya and Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
