Remarks against PM will prove costly, BJP warns Rabri

Bharatiya Janata Party Bihar unit chief Nand Kishore Yadav today said Chief Minister Rabri Devi's recent utterances against the prime minister and the governor would prove costly for the state government.

The chief minister's statement against Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, state Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari and leader of the opposition in the assembly Sushil Kumar Modi at a rally in Patna on Thursday last were ''unprecedented, unparliamentary and indecent'', he said.

Now the explanation of some Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders that she did it out of impulse following her husband's confinement to judicial custody in the Rs 9.5 billion fodder scam ''as part of a conspiracy by the BJP-Samata combine'', was an attempt to divert the people's attention, Yadav said.

He maintained that this explanation was also aimed at influencing the judicial process in the case.

Reacting to RJD secretary general Ram Kripal Yadav's threat to Modi of ''gouging out his eyes'' for allegedly issuing an ''uncharitable statement'' against the chief minister, Yadav reminded the RJD leader that Modi was not alone but the entire party was with him.

He said that the RJD leaders' ''irresponsible'' statements were a reflection of their mental aberrations following the unearthing of scams.
