E-Mail this report to a friend

The Lok Sabha today burst into laughter when Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav said he would be happy if Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee accepts the marriage proposal of a Pakistani novelist but asserted that Kashmir should not be given in "dowry" as demanded by the lady who proposed.

A middle-aged Pakistani novelist has reportedly offered to marry Vajpayee if he hands over Kashmir to Islamabad.

Yadav made these remarks during the debate on the resolution for ratification of imposition of President's rule in Bihar, the entire house started laughing. Vajpayee also smiled.

The SP leader was apparently happy with Vajpayee's Pakistan's bus trip and said his party's call for friendly ties with Pakistan has been vindicated.
