Rajasthan BJP upset over Bhandari's treatment

E-Mail this report to a friend

The reported comments of Union Home Minister L K Advani on the issue of Bihar governor Sunder Singh Bhandari has come in for strong reaction from BJP leaders in Bhandari's home state, Rajasthan.

Several BJP leaders in Rajasthan are contemplating to personally express their disapproval to the party high command in the Bhandari episode in Delhi. The state Bhartiya Janata Party president Raghuveer Singh Kaushal has termed the treatment meted out to Bhandari as ''unbecoming''.

Kaushal said Bhandari was one of the most respected leaders in the BJP and the "shabby manner in which he is being treated" is "unwarranted" and ''uncalled for''.

Kaushal pointed out that Bhandari is one of the founding members of the party and a close associate of late Deendayal Upadhaya. In fact, doubting the impartiality and fairness of Bhandari's actions by the Centre was ''unfair'' and 'unjustified''. Bhandari has devoted his life in the service of the nation, and deserves better treatment, he added.

Some other BJP leaders in Rajasthan have expressed their anger at the comments of the Union home minister and asserted that removal of Bhandari from Bihar would be termed in Rajasthan as ''insult to devoted party workers.''
