E-Mail this report to a friend

The Cabinet Committee on Security Thursday approved the much-awaited Delhi-Lahore bus service.

The meeting chaired by Home Minister L K Advani has, however, not yet finalised the date for its operation. Cabinet Secretary Prabhat Humar said it would be decided as soon as possible.

For his part, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who will be travelling to Lahore on the inaugural run, has hinted that the D-day may be February 20.

Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharief will personally receive Vajpayee at the Wagah border.

The Delhi Transport Corporation and the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation will jointly operate the service.
