More Desi Parties Announced

If Asha Bhosle and Govinda are not enticing enough for the hip-hop generation, several other desi shows are organized in the city around the Independence Day celebrations. Many new shows have been added to the party scene in Philadelphia, San Jose and other cities.
In New York, 'Dil Cheez Hai India', with Bally Sagoo and DJ Rekha is expected to be one of the hottest shows this month in New York and will be held at Club Ohm 16 West 22nd Street, just five minutes from the India Day Parade venue, on August 15 at 5 pm.
There will also be a model search for Bally Sagoo's next music video.
Apart from Rekha (Basement Bhangra), there will be UK's Glassy Junctions: The King of Reggae and Hip Hop: DJ King Neel.

In New York, Bombay fashion designer Divya Dutta will be debuting her Millennium Collection at the Desi party, Azaadi '99, organized by Aum International and DesiParty.Com.
Azaadi '99 starts soon after the India Day Parade at the newly renovated Key Club at 76 East 13th Street ( Bet 4th & Broadway ) on August 15. Doors open at 5:30 pm and will stay open till 2 am. DJ Karma, DJ Suhel and DJ Magic Mike are running the show.
Entry is free for ladies till 7 pm. Minimum age, 21 years, summer attire is allowed.

Kashmir in Philadelphia, August 21, 9 pm to 3.30 am at Pompeii, 15 & Broad Street, Avenue of Arts. Trendy attire a must; absolutely no casual clothes.

In San Francisco, Club Cocomo, has a Desi Dance Party on August 20, with bhangra and Hindi remix.
Age restriction, 18 and over for women, 21 and over for men. ID required.
With DJs Mirage, Cecil, Raaj, Jesse and Real-Deal. Semi-formal attire permitted but no sports wear allowed.
Doors open for happy hour at 5 pm and Desi dance party at 9 pm and close at 2 am.

In San Jose, Cactus Club in downtown hosts a hip-hop and bhangra bash on August 13, with DJs Jose Melendez, Real Deal and Prince.
Warning: Strict security, and strict "upscale" attire. No tennis shoes, no bandanas and no hats. $10 before 10 pm. Doors open at 9, and $15 thereafter. It's being held at the Cactus Club, 417 South First Street.

The historic Lincoln Theatre will be the venue for the August 21 Miss India Pageant. The fifth edition of the popular event starts at 6 pm. The new popular band Veda will perform with Vani.
Participants are from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC.
The highlight of the evening includes a fashion show displaying Sandeep Kumar's "Blends" collection.
