Corrupt ones should be kept out of government,
says Moopanar

E-Mail this report to a friend

Tamil Maanila Congress president G K Moopanar said Saturday that corrupt elements should not be allowed "to go out of one door and re-enter the government through another."

In a statement from Madras, he hoped the Congress would, while forming an alternative government, follow the high benchmarks it had set for itself in the Pachmarhi declaration, and fight the twin evils of communalism and corruption.

Moopanar said during the 13 months in office, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government was guilty of a series of abuses and depredations, including protecting "corrupt elements."

The reference obviously was to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhgam supremo J Jayalalitha.

Moopanar, however, was silent on the party's stand if the AIADMK were to find a place in the new government.
