Heat wave in Andhra

Heat wave conditions continued to prevail in parts of Andhra Pradesh for the fifth consecutive day.

The weather office said severe conditions prevailed in Prakasam district and moderate conditions in Nellore and Guntur districts.

The day temperature were above normal in most parts of the state, and Rentachintala recorded a maximum of 44 degree Celsius

Meanwhile, rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of south coastal Andhra Pradesh and north coastal Tamil Nadu.

Heat wave conditions also prevailed in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Orissa, Kashmir and southeast Madhya Pradesh.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in parts of Himachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana and Rayalaseema, and were above normal in Bihar, in the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, northeast Madhya Pradesh and in parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Saurashtra, Kutch, north interior Karnataka and in the remaining parts of Rayalaseema.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
