Surface-to-air missile Trishul test-fired

E-Mail this report to a friend

India's most sophisticated short-range surface-to-air missile, Trishul, was successfully test-fired from the Interim Test Range at Chandipur-on-Sea, Orissa, today.

The missile was test-fired twice at 0945 hours and 1010 hours IST.

The missile, having a range of 50km and specially designed for the Indian Navy, hit the targets dropped from the pilotless aircraft Nishant.

Trishul is one of the five indigenous missiles being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation under the Integrated Guided Missile Development programme.

It has a triple role for the three wings of the defence forces, the sources said.
