Congress not averse to coalition government, says Arjun Singh

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Congress today made it clear that it was not averse to a coalition government after the fall of the A B Vajpayee government and ruled out the possibility of a mid-term poll.

Addressing a press conference, senior party leader Arjun Singh, who took over today as the authorised spokesperson to deal with the current political situation, said snap polls are not the priority of the Congress party.

Replying to a question, he said it was possible that the party could go in for a coalition government if need be.

The political developments would gather momentum once the AIADMK formally withdrew support to the Vajpayee government, he said, adding that it was not a precondition set by the Congress.
