Chautala rules out support for Vajpayee

E-Mail this report to a friend

Indian National Lok Dal leader Om Parkash Chautala has said his party would like the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government at the Centre to go.

He disclosed this to the media when asked whether he would support a no-confidence motion against the government following All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham general secretary J Jayalalitha's decision to pull out her two ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition.

''We have already withdrawn our support and there is no question of revoking this decision,'' the former Haryana chief minister told UNI over telephone.

The INLD, which has four MPs, had withdrawn its support because of the government's 'anti-farmer and anti-people policies'.

''After the prime minister refused to roll back the hike in urea prices and essential commodities of the public distribution system, we had no other alternative but to withdraw support,'' he added.
