Hemanand Biswal is new Orissa PCC chief

Prominent tribal leader and Deputy Chief Minister Hemanand Biswal will be the new Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee president.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has decided to appoint him in place of J B Patnaik, who held the posts of chief minister and PCC president, party sources said.

The K Karunakaran committee, appointed by Gandhi, had recommended that Patnaik should step down from one of the posts. Later, Patnaik expressed his willingness to resign as PCC president.
