Sharief goes to the Gulf again...

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief held talks with Kuwait crown prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah on Tuesday.

Sharief was in Dubai on the first leg of his second trip to the region after the nuclear tests by India and Pakistan. He had visited the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia earlier this month.

Meeting in the morning, Sharief and the crown prince discussed ways of boosting bilateral ties and various other issues of mutual concern, the Kuwait News Agency said.

The Pakistani premier is accompanied by Foreign Minister Gohar Ayub Khan, Finance Minister Sartaj Aziz and Petroleum Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali.

The Kuwaiti leaders present at the talks included First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Nasser Al Roudhan, Oil Minister Sheikh Saud Al Sabah and Finance Minister Sheikh Ali Al Sabah.

Diplomatic sources said Sharief is likely to seek help from the Gulf states to tide over the crisis arising out of sanctions imposed by the United States and other countries on Pakistan.

The Kashmir issue is also expected to figure in Sharief's talks. He will call on the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, before leaving for Doha, KUNA said.

Sharief is scheduled to visit Qatar later on Tuesday.
