What Hollywood projects do you have at the moment?
Technically my first English film is Bride and Prejudice. There are lots of scripts in the pipeline but as and how we can all work out our schedules because they need a very, very clean diary. I have thereby slowed down my work here but I have no intention of stopping work here, come what may because I absolutely love what we do.

I love our films and love working in films for our people. I'm still continuing to do that, maybe at a selective pace than I was before. Nevertheless, I do have my diary open for possibility of working in the West.

You've often said you are a great admirer of Meryl Streep. Now that you are going to be working with her, what does it mean to you?

We have been signed for a film by French director Coline Serreau, which is called Chaos. It is supposed to start by the end of this year. When I go for the shows (in the US) I will be meeting (the producers) to know what the status is and when exactly the schedule will begin, but what I've been told is the end of this year.

When this came to be early this year, I was ecstatic. I couldn't believe that I was actually going to work with Meryl Streep, someone I've always admired. In all my interviews 10 years ago people used to ask who is your favourite actor and actress and I would mention Robert de Niro and Meryl Streep. On my first trip there I met up with de Niro and my first film is with Meryl Streep, and I said, 'Oh god that's really, really cool. Really wonderful.'
