Khalid Mohamed's debut film Fiza (Karisma Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Jaya Bachchan) opened to much critical acclaim. Though his second film Tareekh (Raveena Tandon) was shelved due to unresolved problems between his producers and financers, Khalid looks forward to his third film, Tehzeeb.

"Tehzeeb is about a mother-daughter relationship," he says. "We think that we have perfect relationships with our parents but there are always in-built tensions and domestic quarrels.

"I have put in some of my own experiences with my grandmother who brought me up. I have also incorporated some of Shabana's experiences with her mother [acclaimed actress Shauqat Azmi]. Whenever she would have a quarrel with her mother, Shabana would leave a champa flower outside her mother's door. And her mother would leave two flowers outside Shabana's door. Yet, they would not speak to each other for days," he says.

Tabu was originally scheduled to play Urmila's role, while Urmila was to play Dia's. "In retrospect, I'm happy with my cast. I got a chance to show Urmila that I care. Actually, she was to do Fiza, but things did not work out and she was upset. Shabana is way beyond what I thought she was. No one could have done the role the way she has done it. Her inputs in this film are tremendous. We would have a lot of arguments and, I think, most of them were correct. And I discovered a real buddy in Arjun!" avers Khalid.

Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek Bachchan were the chief guests for the evening.
