Remember a demure Hema resisting Dev Anand's advances in Johnny Mera Naam's catchy number, Pal bhar ke liye koi hume pyaar kar le...?

The film was a runaway success. Hema had entered the big league of Bollywood's who's who.

The 1970s saw Hema star opposite stalwarts like Dev Anand (Amir Garib), Dharmendra (Pratigya), Rajesh Khanna (Prem Nagar) and Shashi Kapoor (Trishul).

But it was Ramesh Sippy's blockbusters -- her twin sister act in Seeta Aur Geeta and the talkative, vivacious Basanti of Sholay -- that made Hema the darling of the country.

Wish Hema Malini!
