The movie: Devdas. A tragedy so painful and yet so poetic.

The moment: A crestfallen, heartbroken, utterly hopeless Devdas is lying in muck, bemoaning his pathetic state, 'Kisko pata tha, kisko khabar thi, aise bhi din aayenge, hai. Jeena mushkil ho jayega, marne bhi nahin payenge, hai (Whoever thought I would face such a terrible time where I would neither be able to live or die).'

That moment on, Devdas's downfall is certain. There is no redeeming factor. In Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas, the same situation is expressed though the song, Sheeshe se sheesha takraye. It does not evoke much sympathy.
