On screen: Part Punjabi, part Catholic. Meet Naina Catherine Kapur, product of a chaotic, eternally squabbling household in New York City. At 20 something, when most girls are having a blast, Naina is in serious danger of losing her zest for life and turning into a zombie.

Off screen: Kareena Kapoor was the original choice for the role. The actress, however, begged off after producer Karan Johar refused the remuneration she wanted. Her loss turned out to be the bright and bubbly Preity Zinta's gain. As an aside, Kapoor and Johar have patched up and things are hunky-dory between them now.
