Subhash Ghai's Taal was the next film that made everyone sit up and notice Aishwarya. Her amazingly agile dances coupled with A R Rahman's melodies won great raves.
Meanwhile, her love life continued to give her trouble. In 2002, Salman supposedly barged into the sets of Ash's film Chalte Chalte, resulting in a fracas with her costar Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh, who was producing the film, did not want any more trouble and replaced Ash with Rani Mukerji. She ended her relationship with Salman in March 2003, but controversy continued to dog her footsteps.
In April 2003, Vivek Oberoi held a press conference, saying Salman called him 41 times and had threatened to kill him if he tried to befriend Ash.
Ash, who had till then refused to talk about her relationship, issued a 700-word statement, saying, 'The Salman chapter was a nightmare in my life and I am thankful to God that it is over.'
