Ash's career soon saw a dramatic upswing -- from dreaming up houses, Ash was on her way to becoming everyone's dream. In 1994, 21-year-old Ash entered the Femina Miss India contest. She was named first runner-up after Sushmita Sen, who went on to win the Miss Universe title.

Ash became the second Indian to win the Miss World title, where she also won the Miss Catwalk and Most Photogenic Face titles.
