Chokher Bali

This is not a Hindi film but deserves pride of place on this list. It was so cleverly packaged, it fooled everyone at Cannes, Toronto and Locarno. This amazingly pretentious film boasted of Aishwarya Rai, whose supreme job it was to simper and stretch not really do much else for over two hours. She would really be better off trying her charms in Hollywood. But here's the good part: this film marked untapped potential in Raima Sen.
