The show must go on

India's entry to the Oscars, Lagaan lost out on the Best Foreign Film Award at this year's Oscars to Danis Tanovic's No Man’s Land (Bosnia & Herzegovina).

But that hasn't dampened the spirits of its makers Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker.

The Oscar nomination is reward enough, the duo has decided. And in the spirit of competition, they say the show must go on.

India's ambassador to the United States, Lalit Mansingh, hosted a private party to celebrate Lagaan's performance at the Academy Awards.

Rediff.com presents pictures from the party:

He is best remembered as the eccentric and vindictive Captain Russell of Lagaan. But British actor Paul Blackthorne (second from left), who became good friends with Aamir Khan during the making of the film, is all smiles at the party.

Dressed in contrasting black and white sherwani ensembles were Aamir Khan (far left) and Ashutosh Gowariker pass each other knowing glances.

British actress Rachel Shelley (Elizabeth of Lagaan) is dressed to kill in black.

Aamir's wife Reena Dutta and Lagaan's costume designer Bhanu Athaiya dazzle in shades of orange and yellow.
