Bharat Shah shifted to Jaslok hospital
Bharat Shah, held in judicial custody for his alleged nexus with the underworld, has been permitted by a Special Court to undergo medical tests in Jaslok hospital, Bombay. Designated judge AP Bhangale, directed the authorities on September 20, to transfer Shah from Lilavati to Jaslok hospital for undergoing MRI and other tests recommended by doctors. Earlier, prosecutor Rohini Salian gave her consent.
Shah's lawyers Shiraz Rahimtulla and Vibhav Krishna informed the court that Shah had fallen in the bathroom of the hospital a few days back. They said the doctors have opined that Shah's condition had deteriorated because of less supply of blood to the brain. Hence, they had recommended MRI and other tests, which could be undertaken only at Jaslok hospital. With regard to the queries raised by judge on the length of period Shah would undertake treatment in hospital and about the possibility of his production before the court to stand early trial, cardiologist Hemant Kumar said these could be answered only after the tests were performed. Shah has been undergoing treatment in Lilavati hospital since July 10. He was initially admitted to JJ hospital after he complained of uneasiness. Later, he was transferred to Lilavati hospital to undergo angiogram test.
