Salman charged in yet another case of poaching

Leading Hindi film actor Salman Khan and six others have been charged in yet another case of poaching protected wild life by a local court in Jodhpur on Saturday July 21, 2001.

Chief Judicial Magistrate S K Mathur read out the charges, relating to alleged killing of chinkara in 1998, to the main accused Salman and others, personally present in the court.

However, the accused denied the charges and said they would contest them in the trial. The case would come up for hearing on September 22.

Charges were framed against the actor and others under various sections of IPC, Wild Life Protection Act and Arms Act on October 11, 1998.

The prosecution had filed the chargesheet in the court in May 1999 charging that Salman Khan, who was shooting for Rajshree Productions' Hum Saath Saath Hain here in October 1998, shot the animals.

The meat of the dead animal was prepared in a hotel here and sent to Ummed Bhawan Palace where the actor was staying, the chargesheet stated.
