Hema Malini granted anticipatory bailHema Malini, Chairperson of National Films Development Corpration (NFDC) and Jyoti Chatterjee, regional manager of NFDC were today granted anticipatory bail by the Calcutta High Court. NFDC General Manager Rabi Malik and Managing Director Dipankar Mukhopadhyay were, however, denied anticipatory bail. The four apprehended arrest in connection with a case of cheating, misappropriation and damage to property filed by Debesh Ghosh, proprietor of Lokenath Chitramandir. The case was lodged with the Shakespeare Sarani police station in the city on June 7, 2001 . The Division Bench comprised Justice Nure Alam Choudhury and Justice Narayan Chandra Sil. Appearing for the state, Kaji Safiullah, Public Prosecutor, submitted before the court that Ghosh, producer of four Hindi films -- Bemisaal, Jurmana, Jhuti and Charitrahin -- had sent them to be stored at Rupayan Laboratories of NFDC for one year. He also submitted that the films were, however, not kept in Rupayan and as such the films were badly damaged causing a loss of about Rs 50 crore. PTI
