Aparna Sen, Buddhadeb Dasgupta sign on with Indo-US concernArjoe Entertainment India Private Limited, an Indo-US company, has entered Bengali film business with an ambitious plan for bringing in corporate culture and professionalism in the industry. It is a subsidiary of the NRI company, Arjoe Entertainment Inc, and was incorporated in California and Calcutta. The chairman and CEO, Arya Bhattacharya said that it had decided to produce 10 films by the year 2002. Bhattacharya said that Arjoe had already signed an MOU with Business Analyst Group, a management consultancy outfit. While Arjoe would handle the finance, infrastructure and production of films, Business Analyst Group would work at image building, marketing and setting up its own centres. He also said the company had already set up its office from where it would distribute its own films as well Hollywood films. The company has already produced a Bengali film which will be released soon. It has also signed on three eminent directors, including Aparna Sen and Buddhadeb Dasgupta, for its future ventures. "We are committed to producing quality films both in the mainstream and parallel cinema to become leaders in the domestic market," he added. As Bengali is the fourth largest spoken language in the world, the company had also planned to capture the global Bengali audience, he said adding in its projection, Arjoe did intend to produce low budget Hindi and English films. Negotiations are on co-producing low budget art films in Hindi and English for niche Indian and foreign viewers. UNI
