The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Friday demanded dismissal of P Chidambaram from the post of Union Finance Minister, saying the inflation has reached about 12 per cent proving all his measures a total failure.
"We want his (Chidambaram) immediate ouster," CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan told reporters at the Raipur Press Club.
Steep increases in prices of all commodities like now have never been seen in the past eight to ten years, pushing a common man in real difficult situation, he said.
Now the inflation has crossed 11 per cent and will go up further after the recent increase in prices of petroleum products, said Bardhan adding the CPI and other Left parties had earlier warned the Centre of such a situation.
"All fiscal and monetary measures of Chidambaram have totally failed and he has proved to be a failure," said the CPI leader.
"Chidambaram should do some self-introspection, whether he had any utility in the government and the government should also think on the same line."
