The petroleum and natural gas ministry, headed by Murli Deora, has denied that there is any move to introduce rationing in petroleum products in light of the stupendous rise in global crude oil prices.
"There is no such move," a senior ministry official told rediff.com on Friday evening when asked about the possibility of rationing of petroleum products.
Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar had accused the government of 'slowly moving towards rationing of petrol and diesel.'
When told that the petroleum ministry had denied any such move, he insisted that his 'information is solid.'
Meanwhile, Deora is in Mumbai to hold talks with companies dealing in the purchase of petroleum products from international markets.
