Reserve Bank of India on Friday said it would shortly issue Rs 100 denominations bank notes with inset letter 'E' in numbering panel in the Mahatma Gandhi Series bearing the signature of the incumbent Governor Y V Reddy.

"Except for the change in the inset letter, the design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the Mahatama Gandhi Series with additional new security features issued in August 2005," the Bank said.

All the bank notes in the denomination of Rs 100 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender, it added.
