Bharti has turned into one of India's true-blue global companies.

It has applied for licenses for new circles that will establish it as a pan-India player and has its finger in almost every part of the telecom pie today from cellular to basic telephony to international telephony and bandwidth services.

Sunil Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, says that in telecom India is fast catching up with China.

In terms of absolute numbers, today India ranks behind China, but in terms of trajectory, it is on the same lines as China, he says.

"India would have about 200 million phones in five years," he says.

At the ISB, Mittal spoke about Bharti's dominance as one of the biggest telecom players in the country. His dream is to make Bharti into one of the four telecom giants that he believes will ultimately survive in the market.
