Bangladesh, largely cursed by floods and famines, has the dubious distinction of being the world's most corrupt nation with a score of 1.3.
It ranks 93rd in the IT-readiness index, with a score of 2.57.
With over 60% of the population engaged in farming, Bangladesh is an agricultural society. Jute and tea are major foreign exchange earners.
Major hurdles to its growth include frequent cyclones and floods, inefficient state enterprises, delays in exploiting resources, insufficient power supplies, and slow pace of economic reforms. It is also one of the world's poorest nations.
