At the special trading session on the Diwali day in 2003, the Sensex opened with a positive gap of 41 points at 4,798, and immediately zoomed to a high of 4,828 - a gain of 71 points.

After moving in a positive zone right through the mahurat session, the Sensex finally ended with a gain of 45 points at 4,802. A good beginning of the new Samvat.

While 26 scrips advanced, four declined. Out of 93 lakh Sensex shares traded, advances clocked a volume of 92 lakh for Rs 334 crore.
