Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha announced the Budget for the year 2000-2001 on Tuesday afternoon.
He had predicted a harsh Budget, and for some it was exactly that.
Reflecting the mood, the BSE Sensex crashed by 351 points in less than 20
minutes after the Budget presentation. When trading closed, the Sensex
recovered slightly, closing at 5447 points.
