What: The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, invites applications for its Graduate Diploma Programme in Design and Post-graduate Diploma Programme in Design.

Graduate Diploma Programme in Design

The four-year GDPD is offered in the following faculty streams:

~ Industrial Design: Product Design, Furniture and Interior Design, Ceramic & Glass Design

~ Communication Design: Graphic Design, Animation Film Design, Film and Video Communication, Exhibition Design

~ Textile and Apparel Design: Textile Design

Post-graduate Diploma Programme in Design

The two to two-and-a-half year PGDPD is offered in specific areas of specialisation in 15 disciplines, under five faculties:

Are you eligible?

For Graduate Diploma Programme in Design

~ You must have completed your Class XII or its equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

~ You could be a final year student awaiting your result.

~ You must be less than 20 years old as on June 1, 2006.

For Post-graduate Diploma Programme in Design

~ You must hold a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in the areas mentioned against each discipline.

~ You could be a final year student awaiting your result.

~ Product Design: BTech/ BE (Mech/ Mechatronics)/ BArch

~ Furniture and Interior Design: BTech/ BE (Civil Engineering)/ BArch Interior Design

~ Ceramic and Glass Design: BArch / BFA/ Ceramic and Glass Design/ Technology/ graduates in other disciplines with experience in Ceramic and Glass related fields.

~ Toy Design and Development: BE/ BTech/ BCA/ BIT/ BArch/ Interior Design / BFA/ Applied Arts/ Child development/ Therapy/ graduates with certain experience in allied areas.

~ Transportation and Automobile Design +: BTech/ BE (Automobile/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics)/ BArch/ Product Design from reputed Institutes or design school in India or abroad.

~ Textile Design: BFA/ Applied Arts/ Textile or Handloom Technology, Textile, Knitwear or Fashion Design/ Home Science with Textile and Clothing.

~ Apparel Design & Merchandising: BFA/ Applied Arts/ Textile, Knitwear or Fashion Design/ graduates in Merchandising or any other discipline with proven proficiency in drawing and garment construction/ presentation.

~ Lifestyle Accessory Design: BFA/ Applied Arts/ Design/ BArch/ Interior Design/ Accessory Design and relevant disciplines in Technology/ Engineering.

~ Graphic Design: BFA/ Applied Arts/ BArch/ Interior Design/ graduates with experience in Graphic Design.

~ Animation Film Design: BFA/ Applied Arts/ Design/ BArch/ Communication Media Film and TV/ Mass Media/ graduates with experience in Animation Industry.

~ Film and Video Communication: Humanities/ Arts/ Visual Communication/ Mass Media/ graduates in any discipline with relevant work experience.

~ New Media Design: BFA/ Applied Arts/ BTech/ BIT/ BArch/ Visual Communication/ Mass Media/ BSc Computer Science/ BCA. Knowledge of scripting, Authoring and graphic tools is essential.

~ Software and User Interface Design: BE (Computer Science)/ BArch/ BFA/ BTech (Ele)/ BIT/ Applied Psychology/ Accessory Design with relevant work experience.

~ Information & Digital Design: BTech/ BIT/ BE (CS)/ BArch/ BFA (Visual Communication/ Painting)/ Applied Arts/ BCA/ BSc (Computer Science/ Statistics/ Maths)/ Mass Media/ Cognitive Psychology. Knowledge of scripting and graphic tools is essential with relevant work experience.

~ Strategic Design Management: A Bachelors degree in Fine Arts/ Humanities/ Science or a four-year degree in Engineering/ Technology with work experience of at least two years in a design/ design related organisation.

Selection method

~ You will be shortlisted on the basis of your performance in the written test.

~ Shortlisted candidates will be invited to for a personal interview.

~ Obtain the application forms and prospectus by sending a request along with a demand draft of Rs 850, drawn in favour of the National Institute of Design payable at Ahmedabad.

~ You may also download the forms by visiting https://www.nid.edu/.

~ Forms are also available at select branches of Bank of India across the country.

Important dates

~ Issue of forms at NID office and Bank of India, ends: November 21.

~ Please send in your completed forms before November 30.
