Care for some flowers from Ooty?

Ooty, or Udhagamandalam, one of the most sought after tourist spot of India, is getting ready for its two-day Flower Show, which is expected to attract at least two lakh tourists.

It will be held in the third week of this month, and it is the 109th such flower show.Botanical Garden

The main attraction of the flower garden is said to be the lawn.

The Ooty Government Botanical Garden is one of the oldest gardens in India. Laid in 1847, it is a beautiful jewel in the crown of the Queen of Hill Stations that is Ooty. Over 650 species of plants are available in the garden, besides the fossil of the tree trunk, believed  to be 20 million years old. 

Spread over 22 hectares, the garden has lush green lawns, six sections comprising wide varieties of the trees, ferns, fashioned beds, an Italian garden, flowering plants, house ferns, orchids and nurseries.

This year, different varieties of flowers from different parts of the world will be displayed. Most plants are from USA, Germany, France and England.
