Artefacts

Bring back unusual artefacts from unheard of places.

While the current hotspot seems to be New Zealand (pick up some fantastic Maori art from there), try venturing a little deeper into the South Pacific Ocean, to the little known Pitcairn Island (in the picture), immortalised by the classic Mutiny On The H M S Bounty, and pick up a ship in a bottle or items woodcrafted from the special Miro wood.

Similarly, if you are traveling to the Far East, be a little adventurous and explore Vietnam. It is a beautiful country and you are sure to come out of Ho Chi Minh city's Ben Thanh market with a traditional farmer's hat, oriental wooden umbrellas and artefacts in amber, all of which make highly original souvenirs and gifts.
