What: The National Olympiad

Winners at this programme can participate at the International Olympiads 2005 in Physics (Spain), Chemistry (Chinese Taipei), Biology (China) and Astronomy (Russia).

Are you eligible?

For the Physics, Chemistry and Biology Olympiads, you must be a Class XI or XII science student.

For the Astronomy Olympiad

  • Junior category: Students of Class VIII, IX and X (born after March 1, 1990).
  • Senior category: Students of Class X and XI (born after September 1, 1988).

Students who want to participate will have to go through three stages:

Stage I

The National Standard Examination in Physics/Chemistry/Biology

Date of examination: November 21
Last date of enrolment: Extended upto September 22

The National Standard Examination in Astronomy

Date of examination: December 12
Last date of enrolment: October 10

250 toppers in each subject will qualify for Stage II.

STAGE II

The Indian National Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Astronomy (organised by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education in collaboration with International Association for Plant Taxonomy, International Academy of Thermology and National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics).

STAGE III

Selected teams will be trained for the International Science Olympiads at HBCSE and the International Astronomy Olympiad at the Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai.
