Once you are tagged in Bollywood, it is very difficult to get rid of it. And Deepal Shaw -- better known as Baby Doll -- is trying her best to get out of her item girl tag.
After playing a naxalite in Chamku, Deepal will be seen in A Wednesday, a gritty film releasing this Friday.
"Everyone has been asking me where I vanished after Kalyug. I was not seen too much because I was busy shooting for my forthcoming films. For instance, I had been shooting for Chamku, where I play a naxalite," explains Deepal.
How did A Wednesday happen? "Anjum Rizvi [producer] called me for a script narration session. Once he described the role to me, I liked it so much that I agreed immediately," says Deepal.
Deepal plays Naina Roy, a television journalist, in the film. "Naina is trapped in a unique situation in the film, along with a whole lot of others," she explains, adding, "The film is about terrorism but it is not based on a true incident."
The hot starlet, known from her Baby Doll music album, is thrilled to work with Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher. "Though I did not have any common scene with Naseeruddin, I shared a very good rapoort with Anupam on set. We finished shooting for the film in 27 days," remembers Deepal.
Apart from A Wednesday, Deepal will be seen in a number of upcoming movies. "In Vikalp, I play a Marathi-speaking woman, who works in a software company and wants to become a national figure. This film is directed by Girish Karnad," says the actress. Her next will be Right or Wrong, where shares screen space with Sunny Deol and Irrfan Khan, as well as UTV's Dhoonte Reh Jaoge with Paresh Rawal. "I also have another film, Runway, lined up where I play a drug addict," says Deepal.
