Comic genius filmmaker Mel Brooks is enjoying a major Broadway revival, the stage version of his The Producers film evolving into such a success that it spun-off its own movie.
Now, Broadway's latest rage is Young Frankenstein, a take on what is arguably Mel Brooks' most popular film.
The 1974 classic -- starring Gene Wilder as Dr Frankenstein, Peter Boyle as the Monster and Marty Feldman as Igor the henchman -- is hailed as one of the funniest comedies of all time.
Kept entirely separate from the film -- despite suggestions that Cloris Leachman might reprise her role as Frau Blucher -- the musical includes an all-new cast, with Roger Bart as Dr Frankenstein, Christopher Fitgerald as Igor (both pictured) and Shuler Hensley as the Monster.
Expect the villagers to line the streets -- if only for tickets.
