It's time for another film about our brave jawans.
1971 is about Indian Prisoners of War trapped in Pakistan post the battle that eventually led to the creation of Bangladesh.
Manoj Bajpai plays the lead role, with Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan playing another POW.
There are at present 54 Indian POWs in jails across Pakistan, although the country denies it.
Says 1971 director Amrit Sagar, "I made this film for a cause. It is my most honest work because it is not for me. It is for those 54 men in uniform and their families who continue to wait." The film documents an escape by the POWs as they try to reach Indian borders.
In 2004, Amitabh Bachchan played a POW in Deewar: Let's Bring Our Heroes Home. The film bombed though. Hopefully, 1971 will meet with a better fate.
