Nisha Kothari as GhungrooThe Sholay massacre continues.

Ram Gopal Varma is defiant about making his version of Sholay -- and he doesn't care if he might not get to call it that.

Thanks to an injunction by Sholay producer GP Sippy's grandson Sascha, who owns the film rights, not just is RGV unable to call his film Sholay -- the current title is Ram Gopal Varma Ka Sholay) -- but the director might be forced to rename all his characters.

The current rumour is that RGV's villain, played by Amitabh Bachchan, will be called Jabbar Singh, instead of Gabbar from the original.

As for his women, here's his version of Basanti.

That's right, Nisha Kothari (Shiva, James) plays Ghungroo, a boyish autorickshaw driver who constantly talks to Laila, her rickshaw. She lives next to a fisherwoman called Gangu mummy, by the way.

Sushmita Sen plays Radha, only here the character is called Devi, and runs a small clinic to get over the great depression in her life.

One thing's for sure, this is going to be one strange ride.
