Director Dulal Guha deadDirector Dulal Guha passed away on Wednesday morning at the Lilavati hospital in Bombay following a prolonged illness. According to family sources, 72-year-old Guha is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. His son Putul said the end came at around 0830 hours IST. Born in 1929 in present day Bangladesh, Guha came to India along with Bimal Roy. He entered the film industry as an assistant to director Satyen Bose and worked with him for some years before taking up direction independently. Among the films he directed are Ek Gaon Ki Kahani, Chand Aur Suraj, Dharti Kahe Pukar Ke, Dushman, Dost, Pratigya, Do Anjane, Mere Humsafar, Jyoti, Khan Dost, Dhan-Doulat, Dhuan, Do Dishayen and Sagar Sangam. In 1991, Guha left the industry and settled down in his farmhouse in Nashik. He came back to Bombay a month ago for treatment of jaundice and high blood sugar. PTI
