5 QUESTIONS
|
Sanjay Khan is seriously planning on directing a film. The subject? Well in keeping with his penchant for directing historicals. Sanjay Khan is said to be concentrating on producing and directing a mythological film. This comes from the actor-director's belief that mythologicals will succeed. Therefore, he is hard at work on his film which will be based on the Ramayana. If all goes well (negotiations are still on even as this snippet goes on the Net!), none other than Amitabh Bachchan will be play the central character of Raja Dashrath. As for who will play Ram, no points for guessing. Why, son-in-law Hrithik Roshan himself!
Low and behold, Lolo!Could Karisma Kapoor be going through what we would call a touch of the grey? Translated, that means, is she suffering from pangs of insecurity? What with the number of flops she has been devlivering. And rather consistently at that. We see no other reason for her recent operation stage walkout from films. First it was Badhai Ho Badhai. Now it is Nitin Manmohan's film being directed by Anees Bazmi, in which she was paired opposite Ajay Devgan. Yet again, there's another film opposite Ajay Devgan for producer Nitin Raj, for which she has now been replaced by Mahima Chaudhry. Not to forget Harry Baweja's film opposite Sunny Deol and Sunil Shetty. The 'lucky' replacement? Shilpa Shetty. Some not so charitable rumours have it that Karisma, who is hungry and craving for awards, decided that moolah was not important. Ergo, some major rechalking of plans and strategies careerwise are in store now for the actress, who will now concentrate on roles that will get her acclaim. Meanwhile, she is also hosting a show for the not-so-popular SABe TV, in addition to being its mascot. Though the final round of talks are in progress, Karisma Kapoor is said to be not entirely averse to the idea of hosting the show, and the fiasco that the Manisha Koirala and Anupam Kher show (Sawaal Dus Crore Ka) created has not dampened her spirits. No touch of the grey there, eh?!
Dino to do a Harrison while Bipasha is his Pfeiffer! They might go to town crying hoarse that they have called it splits. But don't you guys go believing Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu. If sources close to the Bhatt camp are to be believed, all of it signals nothing but the launch of a publicity campaign for the film they are doing for Mukesh Bhatt, and directed by Vikram Bhatt. The film is a remake of the Harrison Ford-Michelle Pfeiffer starrer What Lies Beneath. Dino and Bipasha will do the happily married couple honours until the skeletons tumble from their cupboard. Hmm. Now that can spawn off a whole new thought process!
The real Chhupa Rustam!Sanjay Kapoor is the happiest cat-who-swallowed-the-cream in town these days. And why not? His long-in-the-making Chhupa Rustam was released a week before the Shah Rukh Khan-Juhi Chawla starrer One 2 Ka 4. Surprise, surprise. It managed, at many centres all over the country, a better collection than the Shah Khan film. "Dekha!" Kapoor grins. His earlier Sirf Tum, too, was a hit. "This has boosted my confidence," he adds, on a more serious note. The actor is now looking forward to the release of his Esha Deol starrer. Oh, and did we mention that heroines are not entirely averse to working with him now? Wonder why that is!
This sound does sync! The film industry's full of sound (sometimes fury, too, but we won't get into that right now!) But these days, there's a marked affinity for sound in sync. We're talking about the new industry buzzword: Sync sound. Consider the number of filmmakers who have taken resource to this technology whereby one can eliminate dubbing, save time and energy as well as introduce authenticity to one's performance on screen. There's Rajiv Rai, Aamir Khan (for Lagaan) Farhan Akhtar (for Dil Chahta Hai), and Ramgopal Varma (for Company). But doesn't Company star Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who is not exactly proficient in Hindi? "Oh, that's no problem," says Ramu, quite confidently. Apparently, there will be no need for dubbing It seems since Mohanlal will speak only in English.
T for tact; T for Tanuja! And now we have reason to believe that we must hand it to Tanuja Chandra for tact and diplomacy. She was the inhouse director for Vishesh Films, with Pooja Bhatt at the helm of affairs and uncle Mukesh Bhatt lending ample support. Now, uncle and niece are quits. But Tanuja continues to be in the good books of both Mukesh and Pooja Bhatt. What's more, she is also directing a film for both. While we're on a roll, let us also inform you that she is also directing a film for Soni Razdan. And this at a time when gossip mills are spinning overtime churning out tale after tale about Tanuja causing a rift in Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan's marital life.
He can sing; now Adnan can act, too!His velvet voice, he had decided, was not going to grace any film song. Unless the lyrics or the tune inspired him. Evidently, Adnan Sami found inspiration in Boney Kapoor's film starring Karisma Kapoor. What's more, the singer's enthusiasm has carried him forward to face the camera too! Apparently, Anupam Kher, approached Adnan Sami for his debut directorial film, Om Jai Jagdish being produced by Vashu Bhagnani. As for the role, it will be a cute cameo, much in keeping with the singer's endearingly wholesome image.
