It's a girl!

Sridevi gave birth to her second child -- a baby girl -- on Sunday, November 5, at Bombay's Breach Candy hospital.

The couple reached Breach Candy yesterday morning at 8 am. The delivery was done by Caesarian section. Both mother and child are said to be doing fine.

Barely 24 hours before the delivery, an ecstatic Boney had told me, "11 am to 1 pm is an auspicious time -- that's when Sri will deliver."

The actress's aunts and relatives have come from Madras to be with her. Boney has rented a bungalow in Juhu for them since it will be a few days before Sri returns home.

It may be recalled that Sridevi had to give up her comeback film -- Boney Kapoor's remake of a Telugu hit -- because she was pregnant with their second child.

When it was obvious she couldn't play the lead, Boney gave her another role -- that of producer.

So even as Sri prepared for motherhood, she balanced her time between Boney, her first child, Jhanvi, pregnancy and production activities.

Kajol had been signed in her place but she opted out before the shooting could even begin. Karisma Kapoor has now been signed for the heroine's role.

Meanwhile, Sri is thinking of two names -- one for her new baby and the other for her new film. According to the family's pandit, the auspicious alphabet for the baby girl is G.
