'Border for me is a part of history'

Even though Sunil Shetty has played all kinds of roles on screen, action has always been his forte. So we asked him to list his favourite action scenes -- not necessarily the ones involving him -- and this is what he had to say.

Guns of Navarone: The entire climax is my favourite -- the whole sequence is so brilliantly done.

Five Man Army: Action to me is feeling, and that is why I like the action in this film.

Anth: Among the films I've acted in, my favourite is Anth. I think the climax sequence was shot brilliantly, with Somy Ali and I on the bike -- the action part was amazing, to say the least!

Border: Another favourite. Not because of the action, but the feel, the love for motherland. Border for me is a part of history. I knew I would be appreciated for any character in the film. The film is about real heroes, and not make-believe. People know that it has happened. The regiment of 60-70 people had withstood two-and-a-half thousand people. It goes to show their strength and courage, and only when you are with them you realise their worth and value and what they undergo.

Sholay: I like Sholay not just because of the action, but also because of the editing of the action scenes. Like when Amitabh asks Sanjeev Kumar to hand over the gun to him and the latter refuses to. And the subtle way the audience is made to realise that he has no hands. That touches you more than action could ever hit you. It is a punch bigger than Mohammad Ali’s. I would just love to play any role in the film, if it were to be remade today. Be it Amjad Khan, Amitabh, Dharmendra or Sanjeev Kumar, it could even be Basanti, Dhanno the horse or Jagdeep. Each and every character in the film was beautifully etched out and till date, it is crystal clear in your mind.
